I Broke Up With Social Media...and Productivity

Why I Broke up with Social Media

In a world where the “Big 4” social media platforms—Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok—monetize our attention and shape our perceptions, I intentionally deleted my accounts 😲. The constant noise, data mining, and algorithm-driven manipulation were not only draining my energy but also compromising authentic engagement. Rather than contributing to platforms that profit from distraction and exploitation, I choose to invest in my creative expression—writing, even blogging and podcasting, and building deeper, more meaningful connections. I'm not trying to become Oprah, but I am trying to get back to creative expression as a spiritual modality and mental health intervention. 🧘🏾‍♀️

Yeah, it's a bold step, but so is healing! Writing and learning with/in community is what I am familiar with. What healing practices are you most familiar with? What is your self-care practice like these days? Did I mention that I enrolled in a Black Feminist poetry class? 🤓
