Welcome to the 30-Day Mindfulness Writing Challenge!I’m so glad you’re here. Now, I have a whole community writing with me to keep me on track with my writing goals! Over the next 30 days, we’ll engage in a practice that nurtures both the mind and body—through journal writing, reading, meditation, and movement. This challenge is not about perfection but about presence. It’s about showing up for yourself, reflecting deeply, and making space for clarity, creativity, and self-discovery. First: Set Your Intentions ✍🏽Before we begin, take a moment to set an intention for this journey.
Bonus: Download Your Habit Tracker for March! (click) Second: Mindfulness ReflectionDerrick Bell reminds us that transformation is not always about immediate victory but about the commitment to the journey itself: “Resistance, at its best, is not an all-or-nothing battle but a series of smaller struggles, victories, and setbacks that lead to transformation.” Mindfulness, like justice, is a practice of showing up—again and again—no matter the outcome. Third: Today’s Writing Prompt 📓Spend at least 10-15 minutes journaling about your thoughts. There’s no right or wrong—just let the words flow.
There’s no right or wrong—just let the words flow. Daily Reading (30 minutes):Our shared readings are "A Boss Chick's Guide to Mindfulness Meditation" (free download) and "Faces at the Bottom of the Well" (online). Or, feel free to read books relevant to your research, writing, or artistic interests. Meditation (5-10 minutes):Find a quiet space, close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Focus on your breathing and simply observe your thoughts without judgment. Movement (10-15 minutes):This can be a gentle stretch, yoga, a short walk, or even dancing to your favorite song—whatever feels good in your body today. I will strength train three days a week with two days of cardio. As we begin this challenge, remember: mindfulness writing is a practice, not a destination. We can use writing and other art forms to practice freedom while training our minds and spirits to become...writers, artists, and more spiritually evolved people. I’d love to hear how your first day goes!
